LAS VEGAS (AP) — General Motors said Tuesday it has registered with Formula One's governing body to become an engine supplier starting in 2028 in what is seen as a huge boost to Michael Andretti's bid to join the global motorsports series. “We are thrilled that our new Andretti Cadillac F1 entry will be powered by a GM power unit,” GM President Mark Reuss said. GM in January announced its partnership with Andretti Global under its Cadillac banner on Andretti's application to join F1. GM doesn't have its own F1 power unit and said its effort would be in conjunction with an existing manufacturer. If Andretti gets approved to join an expanded F1 grid, he would have to use another manufacturer's engine until 2028.

Dealers have been warning of slowing EV demand for months. While GM's about-face was somewhat of a surprise to investors, the Detroit car company is not alone in this new view of the EV future. Just a few months after dealers have started coming forward to warn of slowing EV demand, manufacturers appear to be catching up to that reality. In July, the company extended its self-imposed deadline to hit annual electric vehicle production of 600,000 by a year, and abandoned a 2026 target to build 2 million EVs . In scrapping plans with GM to co-develop sub-$30,000 EVs, Honda CEO Toshihiro Mibe said the shifting EV environment was difficult to gauge.

The healthcare startup January uses CGMs and AI to monitor glucose levels, exercise, and sleep. I have low blood sugar, and January used machine learning to coach me to healthier habits. Low blood sugar, or hypoglycemia, is less common than high blood sugar, or hyperglycemia. Samantha Stokes/InsiderAt the end of January's AI training, I unlocked a suite of tools to track my food, exercise, blood sugar, and more. But January encouraged me to take a short walk after eating, which can help moderate glucose levels following a meal.

The new range is between $8.4 billion and $9.9 billion, down from $8.7 billion to $10.1 billion. DETROIT — General Motors on Tuesday raised key guidance for 2023 after reporting first-quarter results that topped Wall Street's top- and bottom-line forecasts. Its net income during the first quarter, however, was down by roughly 18% to $2.3 billion compared to a year earlier. CFO Paul Jacobson said the company felt confident in raising its adjusted earnings guidance after first-quarter results came in above the company's internal expectations, including continued demand for high-end models. GM's first-quarter results included adjusted earnings of $3.8 billion, down 6% from a year earlier.
A pricing battle could accelerate EV adoption, but automakers will have to sacrifice profits. Today's pricing war (coupled with new federal EV tax credits) could boost demand, helping automakers to boost volume, further helping with cost. The problem lies in profitabilityBut Tesla and Ford's price cuts mean they'll deprioritize profitability for the time being, and that worries industry analysts. "The current EV price cuts appear to defy logic… This will make the unprofitable low-return EV business that much more challenging until massive scale is achieved." "We view the price war as being good for consumers and it should help with overall EV sales and adoption," Nelson said.
